Through My Eyes

Date: 2013-11-22

It's that time of the year again where I am simply just 'gatvol'. 2013 has been the longest year and my up and coming holiday is a well-deserved one. I am starting to count the days to my lift off. I am so excited!

Its not just work getting me down, its my kids exams, the escalating crime everywhere and the cost of basic items. It seems that I am working mad hours just to pay for stuff and it does not seem worth it.

More and more I am dreaming of a simple life. A little plot, far far away from Gateway and its material trappings, a piece of fertile soil with a running streamsome farm animals, and I'm away, but I guess life is not that simple. My responsibilities are too great to just pack up and leave.

While trying to find my getaway route I came across this advert:

"I have a vision, a simple life with right people...

In this little organic farm (with many animals) we can always use two hands more... preferably someone equipped with manual skills (handyman), able to build or repair a hut or build a fence.. Someone rustic, easy going and passionate in their field. Unfortunately we do not have professional equipment, just common tools ... :/so you will have to use your imagination sometimes! Current projects that we would appreciate help with in addition to daily animal care (anything from wanting to try to expert is welcome of course) include: -constructing huts from natural materials (a lot of different aspects to help with) -computer issues -fixing up the chicken coops.

I like shared the good times with 'good' people, those who are happy, motivated, easy going and very open minded...

If you are getting fed up with busy city life, and want to step 'Into the Wild' (just like the film but with an happy end) then this is the place for you. A true life in the countryside of Tuscany.

Honesty I prefer volunteers (single) to come and stay here for long periods of time (this is not a B&B, Hostel or Couch Surfing) hoping everything goes well between us.

I have an immense interest/desire to construct natural buildings/structures made only from our earth..

I want a person to be 'transported' when they come here, to a place of fantasy and creativity. Using methods like 'Cob' to construct these beautiful homes that are made from the earth, it would be similar to something of a 'Hobbit Village'...

*My goal (dream) is to form one day a community (8-10 people) here... made ??up of people who share the same goals (want to live the simple life and become self-sufficient.. freeing themselves from the 'money god').. but this is not easy...

A community of people who are different but compliment one another, where each person contributes their talent or passion to the collective. A --But first we need to clear the space and create the huts to accommodate more people.. (but we know..'Rome is not built in a day'.)

We live the good life. Everything (well almost everything!) we eat is grown or made here on the farm: olive oil, wine, eggs and vegetables and we eat all our meals together. And we hope to become increasingly self-sufficient.

We are located in Tuscany, Maremma is the heart of the etruscan land/tuscan (one of the most beautiful place in Tuscany landscape) countryside not very far from the sea, the city of Grosseto and the thermal baths of Saturnia (it's a magic place for warm water bath). To see the exact position search with Google maps 'Il Pollaio del Re'.

Music is also very important, I am always thinking of the 'soundtrack of my life'... (many memories) I think the life is special and we have only 1 to live..why be unhappy? (people live in the city surrounded by thousands of others yet feel totally alone"

Don't you love it? This advert sounds so attractive, I might just start packing my bags.
