Through My Eyes

As we all know spring is a time of renewal, new life, new possibilities, new hope, new beginnings, fresh thinking. It's a time to emerge from the shadows of hibernation, shake off the lethargy and face the future with joy.

When we talk about 'spring-cleaning,' it really makes it an event rather than a process; personally I'm much more a fan of the concept that spring-cleaning or organising is something we have to tackle in a little way every day. But lets be honest, who has the time?

My spring clean is simple, I buy black dustbin bags and move through the cupboards extracting clothes that I have not worn that year. I believe that if I have not used it for over twelve months there is no way I am going to use it anytime soon. Giving to charity is a wonderful way of completing spring-cleaning.

There are just so many benefits to spring cleaning our lives. And the best way is by getting rid of the mind clutter and negative thoughts filling the mind and starting fresh with a positive outlook on life.

Lets not forget about our health. Spring is a perfect time for health resolutions and detox, it is also the season of wood energy, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine, that correlates with the element of wood, the organ of the liver and sour (like lemon) tastes.

Eat lots of greens to generate more wood energy, feel cleaner inside and be more radiant in your whole life. And, of course, start the day with some hot water and lemon. These are two basic habits that are brilliant for spring, and great year-round as well.

Live with items that you love! Don't feel obligated to keep something just because it was a gift. Surround yourself with things that inspire you and reflect who you are as a person.

Just remember that your home is a big part of your life and the way that you care for it influences your happiness. So don't dread spring cleaning, think of the positive ways you are helping yourself and your family towards a productive, inspiring year.

This month I will make certain to check in on our finances. In between the spring-cleaning of my closets I will be checking up on my banking, calling on my credit card and insurance companies and asking for lower rates.

This spring I'm going to sweep more of my ideas out of my mental attic and into the real world! No point letting any of these beauties collect dust up there. Spring is a great time to deliver it to the Universe.

Oh so the spring is in the air! Nature is waking up. The earth is blooming with fresh buds, blossom on the trees, a whiff of hope in the air. Lets go out doors with our entertaining, invite friends we have not seen for a while, lets reconnect with those friends we shelved and lets feel the new life flow through our veins.

Over the years I have learned that a change in mind-set has more power than one can imagine, when making a difference to this world. So start changing now.
