Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate

There is a place not that far away where you can escape to an old world charm and enchanting sophistication. In just two hours you can find yourself at Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate, where the time stood still and life slowed down to a judicious pace.

Set within one of only two privately-owned coastal forested areas within South Africa. Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate is a manicured paradise, offering guests an exclusive opportunity to relax and get away from it all - coming away from their stay with us fully recharged.

Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate, has recently closed down for renovations and has been restored to its grand status. It was built in 1954, the land on which the estate lies was originally owned by Lord Selborne, the Secretary for the Colonies, and the whippet that forms part of our current logo is derived from the Selborne Family crest. Denis Barker, a dairy farmer, bought the property in 1979 and set about fulfilling his dream of starting a golf estate on the land.

Today Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate is characterised by its traditional charisma, prestigious history and distinguished reputation on an elite golfing estate, offering modern comforts along with the charms of a by-gone era. Be swept away by the lush, forested surroundings of the hotel, creating a positively serene retreat for all guests.

The world-class 18-hole, par 72 golf course - rated one of the top 100 courses in Southern Africa has been masterfully crafted to offer a challenging round, while golfers can take in unhindered sea vistas at nearly every hole of this exemplary course.

If you are planning a weekend of golf try the spacious, air-conditioned suites overlook the hotel's lush, tranquil gardens from a private terrace. Alternatively relax in the privacy of your in-suite lounge. A full bathroom, satellite television, coffee and tea-making facilities add to the luxury of these secluded rooms, surrounded by leafy trees of the coastal forest.

However if it is romance that you seek, the presidential suite is the way to anyone's heart. This one-of-a-kind suite is the epitome of nostalgic indulgence, and is the showpiece of the estate, located at the top of a grand staircase in the Manor House. An ornate bathroom complements the opulent finishes of the lounge which flows out onto a spacious balcony where you can enjoy a morning cuppa prepared in the privacy of your room.
