Through my eyes

As the New Year approaches, I'm ready to sit back on a lounger somewhere exotic, and sip slowly on a frosted single malt, it's been a tough year.

Time stretches so wide right now and even though the well deserved break is firmly on the horizon it still seems such a big stretch.

For all my readers out there running your own businesses from Monday to Monday, hundred hours a week, you know what I'm talking about. This is the time to sit back and reboot this brain and recalibrate the patterns which govern every waken hour.

Is it me, or has time turned elastic on us I feel like there is not enough waking hours in the day to do it all. Like I'm always three weeks behind schedule but I'm still managing to stay above the target.

My mom keeps telling me; "Przekwitasz" the Polish word for 'to wither, to lose blossom' or in more brutal terms, 'menopause'. Ok, ok but so what has that got to do with anything, stuff still has to be done just as it was done before my withering started.

I don't know, I'm not buying into this whole episode. But all I know is that its time to take a break from the constant deadline pressures and to restart my motherboard.

So as I sit here in my small office, watching the birds outside my window, I'm daydreaming of the escape. My daydreams are of white sandy beaches, with turquoise warm Oceans, far away from the hoards of holidaymakers and the smell of petrol fumes. There are not many places like that left on earth.

And this is where it becomes complicated, as there are so few places to chose from, the ones left to visit are either too far away or too expensive or both.

So where does one go for a peaceful annual escape Somewhere, which runs on generators (which are normally broken or getting fixed), has no hot water and you have to walk for five miles in the hot sun to find connectivity on your very unreliable Sim card. Any suggestions Anyone

As I sit here daydreaming of a free from deadline month, I feel slightly sad that the world is evolving so fast and we are spinning on such a high frequency, that soon there will not be any places left like this in the world, its already like that.

I really would love to escape but where to I would appreciate any suggestions from you. Email me on thebugle@mweb.co.za
