Through My Eyes

"You can take away my freedom

But my spirit will run free

You can take away my vision

That don't mean that I can't see

Well all I have to say

Is it doesn't work that way

What lives inside of me

Will find its way to be

It all starts with a dream

The dawn of a new day

The God inside of you

Will always see you through

So hold on to your dream

No one can take the dream

From your heart."

- Lenny Kravitz

There are many things, which happened in the last two years that we would never be able to understand. So much pain, heartache and disillusionment, but what if the truth about the last 22 months is more sinister then we could ever imagine?

As more and more nations are waking up to the truth, here in South Africa we can only wish for the best, as this time around I think we have gone too far and the truth most likely will not set us free.

Everything is somehow alien. Our news has turned into some kind of parody. Politicians flinging immature comments at each other. Throwing celebration parties and disobeying the very same rules that they decreed a criminal act and set the police on the nation. The world has tuned on its head and we are orbiting in a sphere of lies, deception and megalomaniac phobias.

So most of us who have seen the writing on the wall are trying to pick up the pieces and move on but this time around the move seems heavier, more complex and almost out of reach.

Fear is a powerful motivator. Even more so than I would have ever have believed. This madness will not be over until people grow up and start thinking for themselves and take responsibility for their lives.

If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalised. If all of this is considered necessary to gain your compliance - you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interests.

The intense and harsh suffering we have endured brings the prospect of life and what's really important to the fore. One thing the last two years ha taught me, is to stick with the truth and not to change!

The reality of Covid is coming out and the house of cards is slowly collapsing. What I'm hopeful for is that when we get level-headed leaders in power (when and if), that the people that caused all this harm will be held accountable.

Its time to open the world and live as normally as permissible. Those who want to stay masked up in their houses, by all means do that. I no longer want to live in fear. I want to get back to work and start paying off all the debt that this pandemic has brought about.

Let us unite and stand together. Whatever our vaccination status.

Let us support each other and make a new future together, regardless of our beliefs and indoctrinations.

Let us stop judging and finger pointing, shaming and blaming. We are not to blame for being misled and lied to, we were just the obedient flock with limited resources.

No sane person is saying that Covid can't be horrible or fatal for some. Sane people realize - like so many other diseases, particularly other coronaviruses like influenza - that this is another disease that will be with us for a long time and that each person must assess their own risks, get the latest factual information and make choices.

Here's to 2022. Time to rediscover personal freedoms.
