At Home with Cannabis

Kelly McQue is a mom, cancer survivor, cannabis activist and author and has lived here on the North Coast most of her life.

Kelly wrote ?At Home with Cannabis? to empower people with the knowledge to use cannabis in a format they could trust. ?A century of misinformation and propaganda against cannabis is hard to undo overnight.? Kelly Tells The Bugle, ?It's potentially costing people their lives when they choose not to use cannabis because of the false propaganda and negative stigma attached to it.?

?My hope is that the book helps to educate people and show that there are alternatives that are safe, affordable and effective.?

?When it comes to cancer, it's still considered controversial to reject the accepted treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery in favour of alternative methods, but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 that's exactly what I did, choosing instead to heal myself with cannabis oil that I made in my kitchen.?

?I was 34 years old and a new mother who was struggling with Post-Natal Depression - I was disorganised, lethargic and drowning in an ever-present haze of despair ? and then I was diagnosed with cancer.?

Kelly?s biggest fear was that her compromised mental and emotional state would make it impossible to muster the necessary self-discipline required to implement the natural healing methods and so through an online search Kelly discovered cannabis oil.

?Spoiler Alert! Eight months later I was completely healed. The cannabis had saved my life, but it also changed my life profoundly in unexpected ways.? Kelly continued, ?The symptoms of the depression had lifted after a few weeks as I felt better and stronger, I began yoga, I became conscious about my diet, I started fasting, I was more organised, my confidence returned and I was able to show up and be present in my life again.?

?After 8 months on the cannabis oil, not only was I healed of the cancer, but I felt happier, healthier and more capable than I had ever felt in my life before, and ten years later, that has not changed. From hardly being able to leave my home or plan a meal, I am now able to confidently give talks in front of people and host workshops.?

What makes Kelly?s story so amazing is not that she healed myself without the help of doctors or conventional medical interventions, but that she is not unique in her success.

Over the next decade Kelly helped and spoke to many people who have used cannabis to achieve similar results ? not only with cancer but also with many different health challenges.

Cannabis works holistically with the body's own Endocannabinoid System (ECS) - an internal system that regulates body functions like mood, sleep, appetite, pain, inflammation and cell growth ? and this ECS is why cannabis is able to bring different is making cannabis one of the safest substances available.

In 2018 the South African Constitutional Court ruled that using and growing cannabis in private is a protected Human Right and it was time to share her knowledge by publishing her book, ?At Home With Cannabis? through Penguin Random House.

The aim of the book is to equip the reader with all the information they need to confidently use cannabis to improve their health and well-being. In the book I go into more detail about my own healing journey and also provide the reader with tried and tested recipes for different cannabis home remedies and a dosage guide to assist the reader in treating different specific health issues.
